LITRE and SACS
SACS (http://www.sacscoc.org/)
requires, as a part of our reaffirmation of accreditation, the creation
of a Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP). The QEP is critical to the institution
and is for the institution. Our QEP must improve student learning and
the learning environment.
The final version of the LITRE Plan was released in February 2004,
and the SACS review culminated with the official visit in March. The
LITRE Advisory Board was formed in the spring of 2004 and in April the
focus shifted to implementation of the plan.
In December 2004, NC State's accreditation was reaffirmed for a period
of ten years by the Commission on Colleges, Southern Association of
Colleges and Schools (SACS).
The Commission's action brings to a close nearly three years of work
by teams of faculty and staff, who prepared compliance reports and a
quality enhancement plan for "Learning in a Technology-Rich Environment"
(LITRE). All activities were guided by a Leadership Team chaired by
Provost James L. Oblinger. NC State was in the first class of institutions
to be reaffirmed using new standards and a new review process implemented
by SACS.
The Commission found NC State to be in compliance with all standards
and requires no further reports at this time. NC State's next step in
continuing accreditation will be a report in 2009 on progress toward
implementing the LITRE plan.
